josephine yuI am a first-generation Deaf Asian-American. I attended Horace Mann School for the Deaf (HMS), Allston, and then I graduated from Boston Arts Academy. I completed my UG degree in Interior Design at Rochester Institute of Technology. After realizing that I have achieved success in education, I changed my career path to Deaf Education (Deaf ED). I want to engage and encourage Deaf children to be successful in education. I work at HMS as a paraprofessional for a Pre-K class. This experience motivated me to pursue a MA degree in Deaf ED at BU. My future goal is to work with students and have a sense of accomplishment from helping students grow. I would like to see Deaf students who are the first Deaf American generation or emigrated from other countries to be successful in their education. I love to envision all students’ faces so happy and proud at graduation.
